Question about Happ Trackball and KE72T Encoder
« on: February 19, 2003, 10:02:25 am »
I'm having a really difficult time getting my trackball working properly in MAME.  It is very jumpy in all games, and adjusting the analog settings for each game doesn't seem to have a positive effect.  Changing the analog settings does change the movement on the screen, but it's never anywhere near acceptable.  I have yet to find a game where the trackball usage is acceptable.  For tests, I'm using Centipede, Marble Madness, and Arkanoid (since I only have to adjust one axis on that one).

I have a Happ 2 1/4" trackball connected to a Hagstrom KE72T encoder, which in turn is connected to the PS/2 port of my computer.  I am using AdvanceMAME .65, and the CTMOUSE DOS driver.  I'm not doing anything special with the CTMOUSE driver, other than forcing it to PS/2 mode.

I know there are a lot of variables here, such as my machine's PS/2 Port (the MB is an Abit BX133-RAID), etc, but I was hoping to get some tips on what to check to get it working acceptably.  I've searched several places (including here), but haven't seen anything that has helped as of yet.

Thanks in advance...
