MAME newbie help
« on: February 19, 2003, 08:21:40 am »
Hi all,

I was hoping someone could explain to me how to run Neogeo ROMS on my MAME setup? I've d/l Mame 32 v.62 and the neogeo Bios ROMS, but what do I do with them next? Every time I d/l and "audit" a neogeo ROM, I get an error message with something like this: 81.bin NOT FOUND

Can anyone please tell me specifically how to get a neogeo ROM working with Mame? Thanks!!

If I were you I'd download MAME v0.65 since this is the latest version...NEOGEO BIOS ROM files change now and again so at least make sure you have the correct version for whatever MAME version you are using.

Have you downloaded the actual game ROMS too?

Keep the ROM files zipped and make sure there are in your 'roms' folder.

Good luck

neogeo hasn't changing in the last few version, but getting a new mame isn't a bad idea.

Ok, that rom is going to be either in the bios rom (neogeo.zip) or whatever game you are trying.

Goto www.mame.dk and look at the list of roms needed for the bios and the game.  Once oyu find out which zip file it belongs to you know which file you need ot redownload.

You can always use clrmame to verify you have everything you need with the roms you have.  Actually, for a newbie romcenter is easier.
