Defender (Williams) monitor replacement question...
« on: March 01, 2006, 09:15:52 am »
I've begun my journey to reconstruct/resurrect a defender cabinet...

I'm starting with a working board set... now I am searching for the correct monitor for the system... I prefer a brand new monitor so...

the question I have is this... Are the standard 19" CGA monitors that Happ and WG offer a 1-1 replacement of the original Williams system?  I've searched the boards and have not yet found that specific answer... The reason I ask is because I noticed on the MAME(tm) information screen for defender, it says the resolution is 292x240...  If this is correct and the new CGA monitors have a horizontal res of 200 wouldn't there be an issue?

Pls forgive my monitor ignorance... and thank you for your help.
Jim

Defender originally shipped with CGA (standard) resolution monitors. Defender generates a positive sync signal.

The game originally came with either a Wells-Gardner k4600 series monitor or an Electrohome G07 monitor.

The Kortek 19" monitor on sale at www.penn-ray.com for $155 will work fine and be plug 'n play.

Download the sales flyer # PR07 at Penn-Ray. It has all the monitors on sale listed in there. It's best to telephone them if you need questions answered right away or want to check stock/availability.

Will do!  155 bucks!  Thats nothing compared to what I paid for my 27" Betson->Kortek.
