See, I don't want to mess with them. I don't care what they do so long as I don't have to deal with them at all. They bugged me when I was "the smart one to make fun of" and now that we're older they bug me when I'm "the smart one who actually got an education and has a strong career and makes money and has smart kids". Don't come back asking me for crap, I'm not going to help them or charge them money or anything. I'm going to tell them to go back to wherever they came from. I never had the "the big bad jocks are beating on me" problem because I was physically one of them. I don't need to call anyone to lift furniture. People call me to move their piano.
I think most of my issue with stuff like that is with the particular people I have to deal with. I get the people who want me to fix their "just got the damn thing PC, the warranty people won't fix it" and they get pissed when I won't drive 50 miles to do it. I tell them to bring it to me... then their "just got it" PC is 5 years old and looks like they stored it in the septic tank. "no, we've never opened it" has resulted in finding a case with cheetos in it. I would spend a whole weekend rebuilding, upgrading the OS, finding all the best drivers and fully testing, installing hundreds of dollars of updated software they didn't have, and then a week later get the "you said you fixed it but you didn't" call after they plugged it into an HIV infested network.
I've found over the years that people can't afford to pay what would make fixing their PC worth it to me. Don't EVER go to troubleshoot someone's home network... been there, done that, it would be better to go make peace in Iraq.
