24 and other assorted television programming.
« on: February 21, 2006, 10:33:29 am »
Does it strike you as odd that the president never is in the WHITEHOUSE!?!
Does it strike you as odd that the president only has one person he asks advice of
Does it strike you as odd that the presidents people always seem to allow terrorist type folks like right next to the president.
Does it strike you as odd that the president can not make any realistic decisions.
I started thinking that if this were reality that we would be in a lot of trouble. Then it occured to me that hey this is very much like our current president.

President Logan definitely has no balls.  24 is one of the only shows I watch... but it's definitely not what it used to be.  It seems like Jack is mightier than Chuck Norris now.  Over the top.

I'm hoping that this chump either redeems himself in some way to make us like him before the 24th hour, OR, they kill the SOB.

Well, if there have been 4 or 5 seasons of 24, then we can assume nothing more than two different presidents have spent a total of 4 or 5 24-hour periods out of the whitehouse.  They are probably at the white house banging interns the other 1000s of days they didn't show on the series.

Wasn't Palmer in the White House for a brief period?  Could swear someone was.

It seems like Jack is mightier than Chuck Norris now.  Over the top.

Oh, that's an exaggeration. :P  Nobody's more over the top than Norris. :)  I do always hate massive gunfire that never seems to hit anyone, like yesterday's episode.  (Finally hit the guy minutes, and 100s of bullets later.)

Logan's supposed to be a ---Bad words, bad words, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when saint censors you?---.  We're not supposed to like him.  And on the contrary, Logan can be considered the opposite of Bush.  Logan's afraid to make any rash decisions until the last possible minute.  Bush goes gung-ho, unwavered by ANY possible repercussions.

But they are both ---Bad words, bad words, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when saint censors you?--- anyways!

Jack: it's the new chuck norris

Can anyone say formula. Just get a box of names and mix it up then write it down.

Every season.
Someone on the inside does something horrible.  >:(
A (or several) young people do not listen to Jacks direct orders (bad parenting skills)  ???
Clowie whines incessantly (oh poor pouty little girl) :(
Someone on the good guy side has some family matter that they let interfere in their job. even to the point of breaking US security.  :police:
I give up. I really tried to like it, but it is so far out of the realm of a smidge of a tid bit of reality.

Bartlet for President!!!

The first season was by far the best season.  One thing that always bugged me about later seasons was that multiple storylines were happening.  I mean what are the odds of someone stealing a nuclear weapon, then the daughter of the person in charge of the investigation is being chased after or having a nervous breakdown.  So far this season the only random thing is the guy in charge's sister steals his wallet, but it looks like that may be related to the other stuff going on since they won't return his keycard.

As for the President, they introduced him as an idiot last season, but the old Pres. came back to tell him what to do.  I'm guessing he's just going to be the guy to hate all season.  Frankly I see him kind of like what Gore would of been like as President, really good international relations (formed a historic treaty with Russia, and the terrorists aren't mad America) but he has no clue what to do when the sh** hits the fan.  Of course since Gore was never Pres. I'm just guessing what he would of been like.

Why doesn't he just cancel the card?  Go down to the lobby and tell them he lost it?

Jack's fu isn't over the top?  He just used a pistol to shoot down a helicopter that was shooting at him with machine guns.

I want next season's villian to be John McClane.

and he only made the heli retreat. ::)

still not as over the top as norris!  though one more season, and he may be.  just so long as he doesn't start kickboxing or something. :)

What I saw was that he shot the engine compartment, causing smoke to come flying out, the helicopter start to wobble, and THEN it retreated.

Apparently his sidearm is powerful enough to pierce the engine compartment wall AND the engine.  From like 100 yards away.

Well, I just assume that CTU and Jack have access to guns a leeeeeeeeettle bit more powerful than what you can buy in stores.  Maybe that's true, maybe not.

What I saw was that he shot the engine compartment, causing smoke to come flying out, the helicopter start to wobble, and THEN it retreated.

Of course.  I just didn't feel like giving out the full situation.  He made it retreat for a reason.  Not just because they were scared of him. :P

The Noisy Cricket from MIB? Does CTU have access to the MIB stuff?

I thought that Jack did get the over the top status when he outran and ducked out of an friggin A-BOMB like 2 seasons ago. That is when I was saying ok, no radiation poisoning? Dude would be DEAD.  Then he just kicks an herione habit and single handedly takes out terrorists on 1 - 24 hour period....NOT!

Thank god I don't have TV to watch anymore....  seems like it's either "24" or "LOST" that's dominating the tv buzz, unless it's the next episode of "American Idol".....

I watch the first round and only the first round of American Idol all the time.  Because once they weed out the really horrible singers, it's boring.

Simon Cowell has my dream job.  Who wouldn't want to criticize a bunch of idiots?

Lost's a good show.  Still unsure of where it's going though.  I think Invasion's under the radar.  Boston Legal's hilarious.

Boston Legal is one of the best shows on TV. It may be because to watch Kirk do this crazy of stuff is almost unthinkable. I love it. Denny Crane!

Lost was one of my tops. I also like Batalstar Galactica. Frakin great show.

It's not going *anywhere*. It's a magic island people, that means you have better odds buying lottery tickets than worrying about what a bunch of random script writers is going to pull out of their butt come next Friday's planning meeting.  ::)

What I wanna know is when they marched towards the others' territory and were stopped, they were told that they were being "allowed" to inhabit the island...so why hasn't anyone asked the question why their raft was destroyed?  They WERE trying to leave the island.  I hope that inaccuracy is addressed at some point.  I assume it will be...seems pretty obvious.  Anyone who watches it wonder that yet?

Well theres a few possibilities for that.  They are obviously unstable and the fact he tried to pull a gun on them could of pissed them off enough to destroy the raft.  Also, if only a couple escaped, then those few would get a search party to find the island and rescue the rest.  The others wouldn't want anyone else coming to the island and especially wouldn't want the rest of the world to know the others are hiding on the island.

I still stand by my original theory.  The island is whats left of Fantasy Island, but without Mr. Roarke to control the magic of the island, all hell broke loose.

Well... As we all learned last night. The bad guys were just actors in costumes. So class, what did we learn?
The bad guys are part of the Dharma project and the folks that crashed are just test subjects.

But for what? (said in your most mysterious voice)

Aw hell, I love the show. After a hard day of work Lost is a wonderful distraction.
24 on the otherhand just makes me mad at how many stupid holes are left open every episode.

What does everyone think the countdown timer does?  Yeah...something started whirring away that one episode...but what??  Turd Locke restarted the dang thing.

Hmm...I bet the guy who was originally in the bunker when they first discovered it was one of "them" too.

So they had to abandon the medical facility where they had Claire for obvious reasons...I wonder how many more of those places there are.

What's everyone's opinions on the black smoke?  I personally love it.  I almost don't want them to reveal what it is exactly, because the mystery surrounding it makes it so darned appealing and interesting.

3 more seasons of 24 at least.  Keifer just signed on.  He'll also be awarded the title of coexecutive producer.

I just wish they'd stop needlessly killing off people.  It's kinda like nude scenes in movies.  Most of the time, it doesn't add to the plot at all.  There wasn't any point to killing the bank manager.  And you have to assume at least the female aide is dead too, but at least that one's relevant.  (Though her daughter was probably spared.)

As soon as they went into the bank, I looked at my wife and said, I am not sure how it will happen, but, that guy is dead. Not 5 minutes later >>blam<<, dude eats it. Also, how it it possible that Jack and Palmer are able to get into the police car while folks with VERY LARGE GUNS that shoot LOTS of bulets VERY quickly are shooting at them. Then while the car is taking lots of bullets, they are able to just drive off and they are NOT CHASED. OH FRIGGIN PLEASE!!!!
