**NEO GEO REDUX**
« on: February 21, 2006, 01:32:11 am »
well, it's finally working like it should, although i don't have the wrinkles smoothed out yet.  been playing alot of games with the bro, like pigskin.  nothing like sibling rivalry.

if you guys want to see the build, i'll post pics, but for now, this is what you get.  as for the artwork, it's still in the works.  in the end, it'll have the normal neo geo logo's on the side and above the coin door, as well as a homemade marquee.

oh, and of course artwork on the cp's.  that's just my two player panel, i've got a trackball and yoke panel, and a steering wheel that i haven't mounted yet.

and don't mind the dummy in the picture, that's my bro acting like he's playing pigskin.  he kicked my arse in his first game against me.  and i had played twice the day before.

as for some specifics, it's 78 inches tall, 27 inches wide.  it's a 12 percent larger neo geo in almost every aspect.  of course, i couldn't get a slightly larger coin door, so that's normal.

specifications:
kortek 27 inch trisync monitor
arcadevga
pentium 4 2.8 gig
512 ram
160 gig hardrive

controls:
two happ 49-ways
3 inch happ trackball
restored star wars yoke
pole position steering wheel
dual pedals from happ, analog
happ 4 speed shifter

any questions?  oh, and pixel, i'd love to commission some art.

oh, and i almost forgot.  a big thanks to cheffojeffo for all the help in recreating the neo cab as well as artwork resizing and ideas.  also, to all the people who sat through my first thread about the metal slug themed cab.  and to the whole community for teaching me a couple things i wouldn't otherwise know.  oh, and santoro for my 600 tokens, 200 of each run (brass).

She is a big one, isn't she ? Wow.

Looks good -- I like the CP styling a lot.

Cheers.

yeah, she is big, but i like her better that way.

as for styling, i guess i should give some specifics.  i've got several switchable panels that i can change out by taking the latches off of the bottom and just lifting them out.  so far i've got a two player panel, trackball panel, and a yoke panel.  i plan to have a 360 and 270 degree wheel panel, but i haven't started messing with that yet.

as for my two player layout, my buttons are 1-4 across the top row and 4-6 across the bottom row.  i'm not sure about the usual 7 button layout, but i like this one alot.  oh, and this panel utilizes two gpwiz's so i can play almost all joystick games.

as for the setup, i'm running xp and have it so i push a button and it comes out of hibernation in seconds, then i just flip the switch controlling my monitor and marquee light.  then, i just hit the same button again to put it back into hibernation in seconds, and flip the switch to turn off the light and monitor.  the buttons are located just inside the coin door, although opening the door everytime i want to turn it on is getting annoying.

and for programs, i only have regular mame .89 and mamewah 1.61 running, neither with anything special so far, although i'm going to have a custom layout for mamewah and still have a couple tweaks for mame.

oh, and that top panel next to the monitor is always on there and of course holds my player start buttons and the three buttons in the middle are select game, pause and exit game in that order.

any questions?
