Burning Coasters
« on: February 16, 2006, 11:51:11 pm »
I'm not sure if this fits here, but for some reason whatever I burn using nero on my desktop(XP) so I can transfer to my cab(win98) it can't see cd. It tell's me CD ROM NOT ACCESSIBLE. But everything that I have burned before the same way win 98 on my cab reads no problem ???.
When I click on CD Properties it shows for file system FAT, and for those that can see File system is CDFS.
So it can see all cd's from before, but not new ones. I tried to install
drivers but no luck. Those "coasters" I can read no problem on my desktop and laptop but nothing on my cab, weird.
Anything that I'm not seeing or any input is welcome....Thanks

Make sure you close the session on the disk.  Sometimes if session is not closed, it can cause trouble.

You could also just try burning the disk using the function built into XP, and see if your 98 computer will see it that way.

Are you using a different brand of disks?  If so, that may also be an issue. (Not likely though)

That worked on my laptop but won't work on my desktop, so I have to transfer all to laptop an then burn it.

Nero must be corrupted somehow.... :(

Sometimes what I will do is instead of using CD's to transfer from one PC to another, is to use a flash drive. You can get USB 2.0 - 1 Gig drives fairly cheap now.  I've got an older 1.1 - 128 Meg one, and I use it ALL the time.  Well worth the money I think.

Make sure to get the proper win98 drivers for the usb drive - can save a lot of trouble.

Thanks, I did just that. Only I have pile of memory cards from my digital camera so I got another card reader and installed in my cab. Much faster then burning cd every time I need file or two :D
