Do I have all the top manufacturers covered?
« on: February 16, 2006, 05:55:17 pm »
I am adding the logos of the top arcade manufacturers to the bottom of my marquee. I went with a Robotron theme, but my marquee size is much bigger than the original Robotron marquee so I am utilizing the space with the logos. Do anyone see anyone I am leaving out?

Thanks
Glenn

Even though they didn't make many games, I would throw in Gottlieb, just cause the ones they did make are so cool.

really nice Marquee. How hard was it to design? did you make it from scratch or use some elements from elsewhere

Thanks Deefish
I used the Robotron Marquee from http://www.localarcade.com/4images/search.php?show_result=1&page=2 as a base and modified it in a program call Freehand. I used the Robotron font that I found on the web for the Extended Play title. I found the logos off of the localarcade.com site and added them using photoshop. I sent the thing to one of my local printer on Friday and an waiting to get it back. I will post a pic when I get it mounted on my cab. ;D

Very cool.  I like the custom marquees based on a classic.

Lookin' good!

One thing I would have suggested though:  List the manufacturers somewhat in order of importance. Since people are going to read the marquee starting at the top-left, they're going to read Stern well before they reach Atari and Namco. Also, do you need both SNK and Neo-Geo? Maybe swap the Neo logo with Gottleib. I'd say most of the companies in the bottom row should be bumped to the top row. Some compromises will have to be made to get them to fit correctly, and some of those choices are going to be personal. If you really dig Berzerk, then Stern may be towards the top of the list.

Not really a huge deal since you said you already sent it to be printed.
Brevity is not my strong suit.

I don't know about most, but I tend to think of SNK and NEO-GEO as two seperate eras of the same company, so it seems rather fitting to me to have both SNK and NEO-GEO.  If it'd been me, I probably would have maybe combined them in such a way that they would have fit into the space he's alloted for each logo.  However, slapping SNK-Playmore on there would seem like overkill to me. ;D

But NeoGeo was a brand, not a company. (??)

I'd remove Bally, since that brand was primarily on pinballs (in fact the logo you have there is the pinball logo).

Centuri is another obscure company you could add.

And then there are others which sometimes were just developers:

Tecmo
Technos
Romstar

Thanks for all the input guys. I have the Bally and the Stern in there because I have Visual Pinball on the cab. It is primarily used as a Mame Cab, but I do play pinball from time to time. If I do a second version of the Marquee I am going to add Gottleib, that one slipped my mind.
Thanks
