Assault configuration
« on: February 15, 2006, 10:38:55 am »
Hello,

I've got a standard control panel with two joysticks (P1 and P2). I want to configure Assault (the tank game) to run with those two sticks but in MAME the control configuration confuses me.

It says right/right, right/left, left/up, etc. I assumed that meant the Right stick moving right, the Right stick moving left, the Left stick moving up, etc. but that is not the case. Plus there are multiple occurences of right/right, etc. in the list.

Can someone explain to me what I am seeing in the configuration panel there?

Thanks.

You're correct, right/left is the right stick in the left direction.  But it should be working.

I think the second set of right/left etc is player 2, or the cocktail version second player (?).  Check for "player 2" on the second set of inputs (if not there, I'm wrong, so let us know).  Be sure to map all of the player 1 inputs to your correct joysticks.  Also, as I understand it, assualt sticks were 4-ways (but not in mame), and if you press diagonal IIRC the game ignores that.
