monitor questin
« on: February 14, 2006, 08:20:19 pm »
getting ready to start putting things together I have an old nintendo coin op cabinet that is in great shape. The monitor is in working order so I'm trying to figure out what the best way to go for the video. I have 2 choices I have a multi sync 21 inch pc monitor or I can keep the nintendo monitor that I got with the game. I have read thru the posts and understand that the pc monitor is much easier to connect then the arcade monitor. So what I'm looking for is are there advantages to using 1 vr the other as far a performance goes?

thanks for the time
jim

*shrug* arcade monitor will look more authentic.

If it's a Sanyo EZ monitor, likely the colors will be inverted.

Use your arcade monitor :o If you're going to the trouble of building a MAME cabinet you might as well make your emulation as authentic as possible. PC monitors look awful running mame IMHO.
Of course PC monitors are easier, Plug & Play baby! But if they were up to the job I'm sure we'd all be using them. Buy an ArcadeVGA or something that can output to an arcade monitor, get it basicly up and running, then spend a few hours reading through the threads on this forum. All the info you need is here ;)

I have a working arcade game (almost) I have a donkey kong game that has the typical or know problem that the pcb that controls the moving graphics is gone but you can see the game and hear the sounds you just dont see any of the moving graphics. I have found that I could replace the board sets and get a working game but my thoughts why not go mame and have many games in one. So with that being said I think my conversion should be simple because power is already set I just need to figure the colors. Is this correct?
