Azureus - How to access file after download completes
« on: February 12, 2006, 09:13:10 am »
I ended up using Azureus as my bitTorrent application.   I requested a file to start downloading and it completed (reached 100%), however, I do not see a RAR or ZIP
file in the download directory so I can not get to the ROM file pack which I should have now.

Is there a trick to actually accessing the downloaded file when the torrent download completes?

It seems the torrent I downloaded is now being seeded .... I guess so I can share what I downloaded with other people ... which is fine, however, must I wait until the file has been uploaded to other people before I can access the downloaded file contents myself?

You may have downloaded it to another folder than you think.  Just do a search for folders for the name of the file to see if it is somewhere else

Happens to me occasionally. I usually have a downloads folder on my desktop that I dl everything to.
I tend to find when things go awry they end up in the My Documents folder for some reason.

I didn't touch it....honest!

Nothing is in "My Documents" folder .....

I should be expecting to see a ZIP or RAR file ... correct?

BTW:  I got my torrent files from www.euroemu.net

I have a "D:\Downloads\DownloadAzureus" folder and a "D:\Downloads\DownloadAzureus\Temp" directory.

In the Temp directory I have this file:

Atari.Jaguar.Roms.[FULL.SET].[94].www.euroemu.net.7z.torrent

In the DownloadAzureus directory I have this file:

Atari Jaguar Roms [FULL SET] [94]www.euroemu.net.7z

** this file is 81Megs, which is the size of the download, however, how do I access the contents?  I tried renaming this file to have a ZIP and RAR extension but it could not be opened via WinZip or WinRAR so that did not work.

I did a search of C:\ and D:\ drives looking for *Jaguar* and only found the two files listed above.

The Azureus "Jaguar Rom download" seemed to complete (reached 100%) and it is no longer listed in the active download section of Azureus, so where in the world did it go?

Other weird things with Azureus I see:

1) I was trying to download the Atari full Rom set which was 162Meg, however, the download percentage got to 97% complete and the number of Megs it showed already downloaded was 164Meg .... whats the deal with this?  How can I have downloaded more than the filesize and still not be 100% completed?

Should I simply uninstall Azureus and re-install?

ahh  then it is in the right folder you just need another type of program to un "zip" them.  Just like zip rar tar tag... 7z is another archiving program for that you need http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

In reply to the second issue i have come across that problem once or twice.  Usually it happens when the seeder modifies the program by adding or deleting a file or two to the archive (very annoying wish you people would stop that) and don't change the torrent info.  If you are at 97% then let it get to 100 shouldn't take long and see if the file is corrupt or not.  I would only be concerned if this happens with all files you download.

delete the torrent info BEFORE you change the file in any way people
