Help With A Simple Photoshop Problem!
« on: February 10, 2006, 02:54:22 am »
The problem I am having is bordering certain boxes (designing Mamewah layouts) - I can border a box or rectangle. However, when I create a feathered box (so the sides are more rounded) and apply a border it also feathers the border, which means it is not solid.

It has been a while since using this programme, but I used to be able to create a box with rounded edges adn have a solid border instead of a feathered one.

I am currently selecting the rectangle marquee tool and fethering the edges which I think is my problem?

Is there another way to round the edges of a box without feathering so I can apply a solid border?

Thanks

Lea

What version of Photoshop are you using?  Do you not have the "rounded rectangle tool"?  If you push and hold the rectangle button it should give you other shape options, one of which is the tool I just mentioned.

Thanks for your reply!

I will confirm that when I get home - as far as I am aware I can only select the rectangle and oval shapes.

I have not tried holding my finger on the button as you mention. I have photoshop 9.

Thanks

CS2?  You have it then.  You can also select it if you look at the top toolbar while you have your rectangle tool selected.  It's the one just to the right.

Ok i found the tool and it works fine.

Can you please tell me how to put a border around the box - I can fill in the background colour, but cannot find the border option anywhere?

Thanks

The easiest way would be using the stroke in your layer style.
