Cheap Arcade Monitor...Or?
« on: February 14, 2003, 12:46:03 am »
I came across this in another post.

http://www.genao.com/datatech/monitor.html

This guy sells chassis that convert TV tubes into arcade monitors.  I have a TV repair shop right next to my shop and they said I could have tubes pretty much whenever I wanted.  Is this a dead end?  Has anyone had luck with it.
Would this type of setup work with Andy's card?

Is this just a case of too good to be true?

I know birdtales said he had a problem with lack of instructions but the guys next door at the TV shop told be they would help me if I needed it.

It supposedly turns the CRT into a 15KHZ arcade monitor. It looks exactly like an arcade chassis. Has the same inputs etc.

It has a remote board like the Wells Gardners do with VHold, HSize, etc adjustments on it.

Victor is a nice guy, a little hard to understand but was very friendly in his emails. Email him and see if it meets your needs.

Very cool, together with Andy's card it would've been a good alternative for my WellsGardner U3100! Last year I were able to get broken TV's for free.

Anyway, I can't use it 'cause it only supports 110V/60Hz.  :o

Has anybody actually done this?  I'd like to see some screen shots (figures  ;D) of this... I just blew up a couple of monitors last week.  :'(

I think Im' gonna give it a go.  I got a awesome 27" NEC tube and talked with the TV repair guys about which wires I needed to take readings from.  The tube falls withing the requirements for that size tube.  I will take pictures of the whole process and document every step.  When Im' done Ill' put everything up and post a link.

Please do! This could be quite interesting. I have old 19" TVs just laying around, and I have a 25" console TV that has a bad tuner (if the 25" version was $65 instead of $95 I'd probably try it myself).
