« on: February 05, 2006, 05:02:55 am »
i had a very very old computer and recently when i tried to on it, the monitor couldnt work.  :'( even though the power 'light' (which is the tiny dot of light beside the on/off switch) is on, the monitors screen is totally BLANK. this is actually the second monitor i've got for this computer, the 1st monitor had the same situation  :osooo im not gonna get another one anyway the model is 'Philips 107s (light frame 2) which i dont know what it meant  ' and even though i totally had no idea abt monitor, im sure the monitor thingy had nothing to do wif computer. my bros's computer is actually using 'Philips 105e' monitor and it had nvr gave him any problem at all, its like i jinxed every single electronic appliances i haf ever had (so far i had jinxed a mp3, cd player n monitor even though im sure theres more but i jus couldnt recall  ) sorry for such a longgg story but if anyone had any idea or solution pls tell me. thx in advance ;D

Have you been tinkering with the video settings in Windows?  Installed new video drivers or a new version of DirectX lately?

My current monitor does the same thing whenever the video refresh rate in Windows is set too high.

If you don't even see anything when you first boot the computer (before Windows loads) then it's probably a different problem altogether.

almost all pc monitors have a menu that you can access even without a signal coming in,so therefore if you get a menu you have a signal fault from the pc and if you dont get a menu then you have a monitor fault-i have seen sometimes a monitor reset its adjustment setting e.g turn the brightness right down, best to check this first-also just check this monitor on another pc(remember your monitor light should be green, not amber or red)
