problems hooking up new jamma cable to monitor!
« on: February 02, 2006, 08:33:27 pm »
I just got a new jamma harness from dreamarcades on ebay. I see the plug where it goes to the monitor syncs but it is too small and the connection cable that is on the monitor board(Wellsgardener 25in) is bigger and has more wires comming out then the three. can anyone help me with this, as I would like to take out the old jamma cable and replace with a newer one, thank you in advanced.

well this should be very easy as all you do is cut your original monitor signal cable about 3  inches back from the plug then connect into connector block and link red/green/blue/black to the same then its just a case of finding which sinc(white) to connect toyou can do that by tracing the wire from the jamma loom to the chassis or alternately try each of the sinc wires one by one..

That top picture shows the phony baloney monitor connector that comes with a stock "8liners.com" (Jen Shinn) monitor. The bottom photo shows a 'normal' video connector typical of USA standards such as Wells-Gardner.

Personally, I would reject any Jamma harness that has that phony baloney connector on it and send it back telling the seller, "I want a normal connecor on it."

Will dreamarcades do that? I wish. so I just cut the cables? what about the rest of them, there is only three cables to connect on the new jamma harness.

there are six wires going into that monitor, what is the 6th wire?  Left to Right is red, green, blue, ground, sync correct?

i had this same issue with the harness i got from ultimarc, it came with that other video connector on it.  my rca monitor only has 5 wires in it though.

I'm not a monitor expert, but I have connected WG monitors to a standard JAMMA cable. WG monitors use a special connector. Our JAMMA harnesses use a standard connector. Actually, there's really no standard, but this is as close to standard as I've seen.

I do not know of any JAMMA harnesses that have a WG connector, but there might be one.

All you need to do is find out where to connect your RGB, Sync and ground wires. When I've done this I've cut off the connector from an old computer power supply which fit my monitor connector. Hopefully your monitor came with a wiring diagram.

WARNING: Make sure you don't mess-up the connections or you could fry your board or monitor!!! Make sure that doesn't happen as I can't be responsible if it does. I might suggest you try to find someone locally who can come help you out. Maybe a BYOAC member in your area?

If you want to return your JAMMA harness I will give you a refund minus shipping costs, as long as it's in like new condition. Of course, if you cut off the connector we can not take a return.

Actually, the connector on the Wells-Gardner is the standard video signal connector for the USA and Canada. The phony baloney connector is for Asia video standards.

Every deluxe connectorized Jamma harness I had gotten here in the US has had the Wells-Gardner flat white Molex wafer connector on them.

BAh. You won't fry anything. Man, it's pretty straight forward considering that:
1. The wires are color coded (Guess what the Red, Green and Blue wires are for?)
2. You can check where the remaining wires connect to the jamma harness and look at a JAMMA pin-out chart to know what the rest are. Pretty simple.

NO MORE!!
