Name those cabinets!
« on: February 02, 2006, 07:51:00 pm »
Here is a fun game. I will post a series of cabinet pictures, and you try to guess what they used to be. The first one is simple, but they will get progressively harder.

I will also give a background as to WHY each cabinet is in the state it is in.

The "GIMMIE" is clearly labeled, so no one should have any trouble with it. This particular cabinet was stripped for parts and sent to the dumpster. I am in posession of the control panel (with a busted grip). The PCB is in storage.

Item #1 blew the red and blue on the monitor. We figured it was not worth saving, so out it went. I am currently in posession of the PCB set.

Item #2 was in a fire. The bar burned down, and this husk is what we have left. Amazingly, the internals survived.

Item #3 has been stripped. I sold the PCBs on Ebay, but I still have the control panels, marquee and glass. This picture is after the cabinet was struck by a snow plow.

Item #4 was also in the fire. The internals have been removed and are in que to be tested.

Item #5 was dumped by a mover (fell over and the top broke off the cabinet). The internals have been transferred to a new cabinet and is now on location.

Good luck and happy guessing!

Well, #4 was either a Lethal Enforcers or Letal Enforcers II since they were both released in that cab. I'm not sure if Area 51 had a dedicated cab, I but have both an LE and LEII in that exact style of cab.

Item #1 Rapid River: that's a shame if it went because of the monitor.  They have a pneumatic system that jolts the raft seat whenever you hit things or along with the waves.  A blast to play with 2 players.

Heh!

Well, #1 and #3 were guessed correctly. #4 was a trick question (actually so I could be a smart aleck and say "nuh uh" when everyone guessed Lethal Enforcers).

#1 was a Rapid River. Good guess, Romper! The compressor was shot in it too, if that's any consolation. Probably not, but it would have been a fortune to repair. Had it been a smaller cabinet, I would have taken it home.

#2 was a brand spankin' new Touchtunes Allegro jukebox. http://www.touchtunes.com/Allegro for an idea as to what it used to look like.

#3 was a Virtua Racing twin. Good guess, Guru! This is another cab I wish I could have had, but the medium res monitors were removed and one was mounted in to a Rush the Rock and the other is in storage. Our sales guy pushed the cabinet around the parking lot with a snow plow and mashed it up against the dumpster. Not much left of it. Even the coin door frame was cracked.

#4 was a Big Buck Hunter II conversion from a Lethal Enforcers.

#5 was a dedicated Big Buck Hunter II.

Thanks for playing, everyone! I should have a new batch of mangled cabinet photos next month for the next installment of...

NAME! THAT! CABINET!
