Halloween in Ireland.
« on: January 30, 2006, 04:30:18 pm »
I'll be in Dublin Halloween week this year and I was wondering if I should pack my gorilla costume or not.

Do the Irish (adults) celebrate Halloween in Ireland?

I thought I asked this last year, but I couldn't find the topic when I did a search.  I ended up not going to my families reunion last year, so I may not have actually started a post.  I'm getting a lot of guilt from my mother to go to it this year.

"This could be your great aunt's last reunion..."

By the way, I'll probably start another Ireland/Halloween thread around October in the meet up forum to see where you guys are going to be.

Thanks

I think you should arrive in Ireland dressed as a gorilla regardless of what time of year that you're there. I'd even wear it on the plane if I were you.

Aren't  there enough Guerrillas in Ireland?

"Trick or Treat"
"here, a warm beer"
"aw, man, another one, this sucks"
"okay, laddie, have a rock"
"What do I do with a rock"
"duck"
"Ya bloody bastard, you almost got me"
"Okay, okay, fine, have this"
"What's that then"
"a car bomb"

Yes and don't forget to pack your guns. You can't be too careful after all. ;D

We do indeed celabrate halloween man. For adults it usually consists of getting dressed up and going out to get pissed......basically like every other night except wearing a costume.

By the way, don't worry about bringing guns, the VAST majority of the country still resorts to knocking the crap out of each other and then writing a song about it  ;)

Halloween has its origins in Ireland (it's one of those nice pagan holidays), but it hasn't been 'Hallmarked' over there like it is here in the US. There'll be costume partys alright, but not nearly as much going on as over here.

For some reason bad cheap fireworks are really popular in Ireland on Halloween, I'd be worried that some knacker would throw a 'German Banger' down your gorilla costume and burn the bollocks off ya.

Oh that would be pretty.

Dexter and Dodger in Dublin in furry suits.

It would be like one of those "we dress up like rabbits and have sex" conventions.

He only knows what the BBC tells him, so I won't hold his negative views of the US against him.  Ireland born cousins have tried to get me to debate about Bush before, but I really don't care what they think about the subject.  It's like me bad mouthing the king of Ireland.

Saw a webpage on it once... something like Furry Love where people dress up like cute animals to do each other.  They have gatherings and stuff.  Kind of creepy.

I knew a guy in college who was involved in this.  He had a beaver suit with an access flap over the crotch and ass.  Insert punchline here.

When looking for sex, I would think you don't go for the animal with the biggest teeth.
