Help me Please!! Tiger woods 2002-2004
« on: January 27, 2006, 01:34:28 pm »
OK Ive been a lurker here for a while now and have read a lot about what PC games re great in a cabinet.  After reading on the boards that Tiger Woods 2002-2004 is great in a cab and even plays at 640x480 I went out and bought 2004 for a few bucks.

Lets just say I was very surprised when it didn't start.  Turns out the game won't run below 800x600.  So I try the demos of 02 and 03 and same thing.  I have no way to get the games to run at 640x480.

I don't know if Im doing something wrong to get these games to work or not.  I have a 256 MB Geforce 2 and am using component out to my tv.

If any one has gotten these games to work at 640x480 using tv out please let me know what you did.

Thanks..

I've never got it below 800X600 either.  I have a D9200, so i just run that game at 800X600.

Can you post a link to thread where you found that information?  I use it at 800x600.

Now that I go back and read them noone really states the resolution.  All they do is say it plays well and they have trouble reading the text because of the rtv.

Here's a couple of threads..

I still don't understand how they would be able to get a 800x600 resolution on a tv

I don't understand why you're having a problem.  My entire cabinet was 800x600 so I could read anything with S video.  Give us some more details.

Just figured it out.  Seems that all you guys using s-video and composite can set your resolution higher and the tv shrinks it down itself to fit the screen.  Component video doesn't give me that option.  Im stuck at 640x480 or 720x480 and have no way to change to a higher resolution and still fill the screen correctly.

I tested it late last night with composite video and it worked just fine.  It looked really nasty but it worked.  Im going to scrounge around for an s-video cable and see if it gives a picture closer to component.

Any of you guys see much of a difference between component and svideo on a SDTV?

Did you hack a VGA cable or do you have a cable made by the VGA card manufacturer?  When I used a TV I just pulled S-Video out, but my cabs now have Betson Multisync monitors that run at 1024x768 for PC games.  That works really well, but it's an expensive solution.

The card has a dongle with all 3 different video outs on it.  Ofcourse I started using the component right off and everything looks great in the native 640x480 resolution.  Even Vector games.

Just went out and bought an S-video cable as I couldn't find one laying around the house.  Im going to go give it a shot and see if it comes close to the same picture quality as the component or if it will be such a drop in quality that I want to vomit.
