Something wrong when I put roms in folder
« on: January 25, 2006, 06:26:39 pm »
Alright, I had the cab running fine! I should have left it at that!
Now I wanted to update my roms so I got the new 103 set. I took off all of the Mame associated files. I put in the 1st DVD in my new DVD drive and nothing happened! I opened it up and there were roms in it so i coppied them off the disk to a file folder. insert next disk and the computer can't read it. NONE of the other disks can be read but if I put disk 1 back in it is fine. Computer says the other disks are corrupt or a ormat unreadable by windows.
I decide to put my old roms back on. Finally got them all on!
So I DL the new version of mame from off the site. I extract it, I open the roms folder and put the roms in there. It takes about 20 mins for it to copy all the roms from my folder to that mame folder. Everything looks good in the process and the roms line up all nice and neat but once it is done something happens! they all go down the screen in 1 diagnol line?
I took everything off and restarted teh computer and did the whole process over again and the same thing happens.
Does anyone know if I have done something wrong?
Thanks

I am still having this problem. I have tried everything. Do I just need to erase the computer and reinstal windows?
I will have to get someone knowledgable to come do it.
Anybody close by?
Cold beverages and pizza! This weekend would be great and my new Top Gun guns should be here!!
Well if that is not incentive enough there then I don't know what is!!

Well If I understand you right your "problem" is really not a problem. Go up to view and select arrange icons by name and they will move back to the way you are use to seeing them.  You probally selected to view details.  If I have understood your problem correctly, if you get it all working again I would leave it all alone.

Yeah that fixed it. I feel dumb about not knowing about that. I really don't know much about computers at all.
I got everything back up and running. I have another question though. I can't get the samples to work. I know one of the samples fixes the sound in Donkey Kong. I have the samples and they are in the correct folder. Do I need to unzip them?
I was looking at the Mamewah folder and the ini I have for Mame doesn't mention anything about samples. Do I need to put it in there somewhere?
Thanks
