mamewah and nonamemame and buddamame
« on: January 25, 2006, 07:07:57 am »
Hi,

i am runnign mamewah on my cab with the roms for mame .94 and buddamame .94. I like buddamame as it allows you to bypas the nag screens (ok etc) but i have heard with nonamemame you can do this alos plus it allows the bezels etc for games ot take up the whole screen so you get not blackness.  Now will mamewah worj with the latest version of nonamemae (even though it is mame32??) or do  i need to get a dos version of it. Also will the latsest version of noname allow me to run all the roms from mame.94 (either mame32 or dos version??)

Are there any plans for buddamame to allow the artworkk to take up all the screen size so there is no blackness??

Thanks in advance

Currently, no. I'm not ruling it out for a future project, however.

What would also be great is for the artwork to be displayed without any of the video filters applied.  That way you can run a higher resolution, apply scanlines (or your prefered filter) and get full quality artwork while keeping the game itself looking authentic.

Are you sure NoNameMAME is MAME32?  I'm pretty sure it is just a Windows commandline version, which is fine (recommended actually) for Mamewah.

Mumbles -

I use NONAMEMAME 0.81 with MAMEWAH 1.61 -- the two work wonderfully together, though I had to tweak the commandline a little to get it like I wanted it. Seems to be ignoring some of the GUI-configured settings when I run it commandline.

My commandline setting from mamewah INI looks like this:

commandline_format   "[rompath]\[name].[romext]" -skip_gameinfo -lightgun -dual_lightgun -offscreen_reload -cheat{nodosbox}{safelaunch}

I know that somewhere around 0.7, there was suddenly a major change to NONAMEMAME, and since then, the splash screen (when you run the GUI) says "MADE IN MAME32"  -- though I'm not sure what that means. It does look as though it's using the MAME32 interface though.

Anyway... hope it helps. I'd be up a creek without a paddle if I didn't have NONAMEMAME in my MAMEWAH setup. I've yet to find any better solution for Area 51, two lightguns, offscreen reload!
