Boosting Horizontal ohms with a 10 watt 1ohm resistor?

I need to boost my horizontal ohms in order for my new monitor board to be compatible with my crt.  They told me to get a 10 watt 1 ohm resistor and increase the ohms. The red wire i believe is what i need to put the resistor on. Do i just cut the red horizontal wire into and solder the resistor in the middle?

Is this correct? Also does it  matter which way the resistor is soldered? bi directional?

Resistors are not polarized.

You are apparently hooking this resistor in series so what you have proposed is correct. You would need to cut that wire and solder the resistor in.
