PC LCD vs TV LCD

Looking to make my second MAME cab large and I was thinking about a TV LCD.

Most of the new LCD TV's have vga input but I was wondering is there any difference between PC LCDs and TV LCDs???

have just finished an install of an lcd tv (in a minibus of all things) there is NO difference in picture or technology between LCD TV and PC TFT (apart from the tuner module)

the only things to look at is price and aspect ratio, larger TV lcds tend to be 16/9

What about drivers for the TV LCD are they hard to come by? I know this may depend on manufacturer but I hoping someone out there has already tried using a TV LCD with there PC and can give me some feedback on the experience. I don't mind spending a little extra money if I get something kickass...

i use a 26" JVC LCD TV as my PC monitor, didn't need any drivers, only downside is limited resolution, mine does a max of 1024x768

my freind uses his 42" plasma via DVI, he can do some crazy resolutions, again - no need for drivers

was going to say No drivers required as they appear to the computer as a standard monitor (and can tell the computer its capabilities via the data lines on the vga lead)

LCD/Plasma for living room and TV gaming is fine, because you sit back from the screen.  It a cab it makes things look very blocky, as you are often very close to the screen.  Of course if you play 3D games or emulators (ZiNc, etc) you can jack the resolution up for some very clear and pretty gaming.

Otherwise as mentioned, take note of the resolutions available.  Many cheap LCD and Plasma TVs are standard def only, which means they are often physically limited to 480 "lines" (pixels, on a digital display) in height.  Considering you pay a premium for a LCD TV due to the inputs and tuner (which you probably won't use in a cab), you're likely to get a larger screen with more physical pixels for less money if you go the PC monitor route.
