Lopsided / Crooked picture, please HELP ?
« on: January 22, 2006, 03:11:05 pm »
HI, I just installed a discount monitor from Ebay (AUSTINSMOM) .  For some reason, the picture comes up on an ANGLE .  I've included pics,, I've never had this problem before, adjusting the vert, horz, pots didn't help , neither did any of the
other adjustments provided.  Is this a chassis or tube problem?  I'm using a standard JAMMA hookup.  thanks

The only time i have ever seen this problem is when the scan coils have moved,if your monitor came by post its possible.
If you know what to look for it will be easy-on the tube neck you have the scan coil ,it is held in position by a jubilee clip-if this comes loose then the coil moves causing the self same problem-you can rectify this by rotating the coil back the the home position(be careful there are high voltages on the coil),once the correct position has been attained you can tighten the jubilee clip-but you must not over tighten or your tube will crack, just to torque will do.

Yes, this looks tlike the yoke slipped on the neck of the picture tube during shipment (probably from rough handling). With leather gloves on, loosen the clamping screw on the yoke and while watching the on-screen image carefully rotate the yoke till the picture is straight. Then retighten the clamping screw. Don't overtighten the screw or you'll crack the tube!
