Gameex preview video assistance
« on: January 17, 2006, 08:17:30 pm »
Hi,

Setting up Gameex on my MAME cab (P4 1.8/384 RAM/Win XP Pro). Everything works fine except for the fact that I can't seem to get video previews to play. I have tried the mame videos posted here, as well as daphne videos i downloaded, whenever it appears to want to start a video, the screen goes black (appears to be trying to change resolutions??) and I have to hit a bunch of buttons to try to get it back to mamewah. If I turn off the videos, everything is great.

Any idea what this could be?

BTW, Tom - I tried to join your forums, but never got the confirmation email, otherwise, I would have posted there..

All videos should work fine as long as you can get them to work in Windows Media Player. Do they? Its possible you're missing a codec or something. Also, do you have two monitors? If so, make sure the one that you actually watch to play the games is selected as the primary monitor. I've had windows-related issues before because of the video overlay. Let us know.

Codecs are installed. I have tried this with Xvid encoded files and DIvx encoded. also installed Mamewah, and it can display the videos fine.

Awefully strange..any other ideas on what I could look at?

I'm not, sorry. I'll play around a little in the next day or two and see if I can come up with some more suggestions. I still have a feeling that this may be windows related and not GameEx. Do videos play in the Video section? Or are you talking about the game previews in the menu?

I've also been having problems with the video previews.

On my system, the videos play fine in WMP.  But in GameEx, they will sometimes (about 2/3 of the time) play at double-speed the first time through.  After the video plays once, it then plays at the proper speed.

Any ideas?
