Mallrats is my favorite Kevin Smith film.

Clerks was cool for what it was, a self-funded indie romp, inspirational for people who want to make films. Other than that, Smith is mostly a one-trick pony.

Dogma disappointed me, but I had high expectations going in, being an avid fan of Armageddon (the event, NOT the movie) and all. The standard for dark-comedy about the end-times was set by the Neil Gaiman/Terry Pratchett novel "Good Omens", and Dogma was no Good Omens, unfortunately.

i second that. CLERKS is one of my all time favourites. its WAY to late to make a sequel. and if it wasnt made in the first year of release a sequel should NEVER be considered in this case...

I have a friend that worked on the Clerks special edition DVD with Kevin Smith and he got the impression that Kevin is at the stage where he's just pulling random ideas out of his ass.
Did anyone see "Jay and Silent Bob Do Dagrassi"? It sounds awful.

Still, I hope Clerks 2 ends up good. I think Mallrats was his best work yet.

I saw some of those episodes. That show is F'd Up big time.

Edit: Saw cameo's by wanda sykes, ben, jason lee and the guy that plays his brother on tv. Also love what sounded like old school Anthrax playing the entire time.

I am sure Mr. Smith will make plenty of sequel jokes. just like the dick and fart joke references in Jay and Silent Bob.

I thought Clerks was fantastic. Mallrats was awful. Chasing Amy was good. Dogma was awful. Haven't seen Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back or Jersey Girl, but Jersey Girl obviously sucks ass. If you ask me, even if this was a completely original film rather than a corporate sellout it would more than likely suck.

I didn't really like Chasing Amy or Dogma that much. The only really good part of Chasing Amy was when Hooper was making fun of StarWars.
