Ultrastyle video display problem with xvid codec
« on: January 12, 2006, 12:53:14 pm »
I am running windows xp pro sp2 on a pent 4 comp.

I just downloaded and installed ultrastyle v 3.0 as my front end for mame32 ver 83. I know, I know, mame32???  I also have mamewah and mala installed for my mame.exe (I like tweaking with multiple versions of mame).

The videos in my mamevideo folder work perfectly in Ultrastyle (centered right where they should be).

Now here is the problem. I also downloaded the mame intro movies
(http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=45467.0)
and installed them into the same directory.

To make these vids work I needed to load the xvid codec which i downloaded and installed.

Now when Ultrastyle tries to show one of the newer videos, the video plays but it opens in a small window titled Active Movie Window. It Ultrastyle uses one of the older videos, it works perfectly.

If I go to the folder where the videos are - they all show type video clip and the windows media player icon association.  If I launch one by double clicking, it opens in the windows media player.

I have checked my file associations and not sure what I am missing?

any thoughts on how to get ultrastyle to open the new vids correctly?

Start - All Programs - XVID - Configure Decoder -

Uncheck Deblocking Y - Deblocking UV, Film Effect
Uncheck Flip Video and Compatibility rendering
Output Colorspace - No Force
