What it feels like to lose close to $700!
« on: January 07, 2006, 10:08:43 pm »
I was just thinking about how much I don't use my Dell Axim X50v 624mhz PDA so I figgured I might sell it.  I go to the place I saw it last, the side table next to my bed, and it's not there!  I search my entire room, no luck!

I've looked everywhere that I can posible think of and I can't find it.  I'm freaking out.  It's even got my 2gig SD card it it!  WTF! >:(

Needless to say, it friggin sucks beyond belief!

If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Ya, I bought an Axim about a year ago and used it a couple of times before I realized I hated it, but then I only spent $250 on mine so I didn't feel too bad.

Danny, the freezer would be the more likely place.

Call 411.  They told me my socks were behind the couch, maybe they can help you with this

Have you tried your workplace, the boot of your car or under the car seats.

Or maybe Seph's mum mistook it for a sandwich.  ::)

I did something pretty stupid on eBay once. I sold one of my R/C cars for $500 and had it all boxed up and ready to go by the front door of my apt. The only thing I had to do was wait for Paypal to confirm payment and send it to the postoffice. Well, my roommate, being the nice guy he is, sent the box for me while I was at work. I come home to find the box gone and the seller writing to me saying he wanted to retract his bid because he thought he bid more than he could pay.

So I was out a car, money and had no one to be upset with.

what was the feedback of the seller?  did you try to contact him and arrange something?  someone can beat him up here if you still know the address.

I told her she could keep it.  Call it a Frequent Customer Reward.

And dude, try walking to your parking spot and finding your car missing when your insurance has just lapsed.

Or coming home and finding your water heater busted open and everything in your basement is destroyed.

If $700 is the biggest one time loss you ever incur you will have led a hella lucky life.

I lost $28,000 on some stock options that I though would go up in value.  The stock went down below the strike price.  The options expired and I never got to excersize them.  If I had sold them at the peak it would have been $28,000.

Oh, I probably had a max of about $30k in vested options during the process, but never got the opportunity to even pull the trigger on those.  They fell so fast you could hear the plop.

In 2000 I had half a million dollars in unvested stock options.  By the time they vested in 2001 they were worth less than a can of Pepsi.
