AtomicFE and Intro Movies
« on: January 06, 2006, 07:41:23 pm »
Hey Youki!  You married yet?
Ive been downloading the into movies that cdbrown has been cool enough to put out and was wondering if/how to get them to work with Atomic?  I would like them to play instead of my snaps when my cab is inactive for a while.  Is there a way to do this.  Also did  you know that the password feature does not seem to work all the time?  Some times it works sometimes it doesnt.
Big thanks and shout outs as as always ;D

Hi ,

Yes, i'm married now!  ;)

I don't support intro movie.  But you know with Atomic you can configure the Screen saver to run radom games for a while.  Usually games have demo mode.  In addition , if you insert coin in the game launched by the screensaver it will detect that and you can play.

The password feature should work everytime , but it has to be set for each configuration.  It means if you have a config for mame, one for SNES, one for Genesis..ect.. the password need to be configured in each cfg. (i know, it is heavy... i will change that later.  :) )

Hey congrats on the wedding.  I get married next month.  No intro vids, thats why I could not get it to work ;D

I will try the random play and see if I like that.
To me being able to play a game that you see in demo mode is better as you have no way to figure out what game it is that you see that you like with a intro video.

Did not know about setting the password with each configuration.  Will try that out and see if that is the problem.  I though I had tried esc. in my main config with out being prompted for password but will try again.

I think the password is not enabled for your main cfg. Just open it with AtomicManager and enable it!  :)

Hi,

Just put your AVI files in a folder.

Files must be named nameofgame.avi , ex (pacman.Avi)

Then with AtomicManager on the folder tab make point the SNAP video folder to that folder.

Even if you have the .AVI file , you MUST have the .png file in the Snap (not the video one) folder.

then you must have the right code installed on your machine. It must be codec for windows mediaplayer 6 or <  .

If you look in Atomic 0.14 there is folder called "video for loading screen" , inside there is an AVI file ,  If you use a tool to know what is the codec used by that file you could use that one to encode your video.

To make your video you can use CamStudio software (do a google search).

Now, i'm in the U.S (North Carolina) for still a week so i didn't have access to my computer to help you more. But i hope it helps you enough to start.

If it works, Atomic will display the video if present if not it will display the snap and if both are missing it will display the "missing snap" screen of your layout.
