Luke at www.ArcadeUk.com had a working Power Drift for sale and I had to have it.

I was just about to pick up a working Twighlight Zone pinball when I had to replace a central heating boiler, this cost

I had wondered whether it was worth the expense. Is there any point in me trying to patch up the missing bits of graphic by getting some black vinyl and cutting it to match up with the teared off part and somehow painting it. I aint scarred of trying to paint it on or something?

Figure out where the machine is going to rest first.  Odds are you're going to have stuff next to it and the art won't even be all that visible.

Any ideas about rust removal? I used to remember stuff for cleaning rust of push bike wheels but I can't think what it was. You used to rub it on with a bit of cloth?

I remember a few years ago purchasing some stuff at Canadian Tire that was like a thick paste, and it would help get rid of rust.  I don't know if you would want to use it on an assembled cab. I would want to dis-assemble myself first, but if you go to all that trouble, then depending on the part, you may just want to use a wire wheel or buffing wheel of some sort.

I love this machine, I always did so I'm very biased. Some people may find it boring after a while, there's only 5 tracks of 5 tracks (plus 2 bonus ones).

I play it on the hardest difficulty setting, like it was set in the arcades I played it in which makes it much more interesting and harder to get the 5 golds for the afterburner and super hang on bonus tracks.

Yes if you get 5 gold and tracks E, C or A. These are considered the easiest (E being the easiest and A the hardest.

But if you get 5 golds on B or D you ride the Super Hang On bike (D is the hardest track) which is so narrow compared to the other cars it makes it easy to whip past.

I'll never forget the 1st time I did it, seeing the car lift slowly off the track and turn into the Afterburner plane, such a cool idea

Oh, hey, I've got one of those in the garage (and for sale).  It's water damaged, but plays fine.  I didn't realise it was the game you could fly the Afterburner plane in- guess I'll have to go get in some play time before it sells or gets parted out.

That rust isn't bad.

Get a hand sander (random orbit) and fine sandpaper.  Sand it down.  Then take some paint (clear or black, your choice) and paint the pedal.  Otherwise it'll rust again in short fashion.

I wouldn't even remove it from the cab.  Just mask off your area.  Won't take much.

steel wool also removes rust and leaves you with a shine--requires a bit more elbow grease though...nice score--i want to get a dedicated driver some day--maybe when we get a new house...

I'm also looking for an image to go in the centre of the steering wheel. I've had a good look round but can't find a clear enough image, to vectorise or copy.

I've had a bash at getting the rust of the kick plate, here are a couple of before and after shots.

The flash makes some parts look darker than they actually are:

You're scoring the hell out of the surface there, which is probably unavoidable.  It does mean that you have to coat it with something now.  Paint, or a sealer, or something, or it will rerust like Peale says.

I would remove it, wire brush it on a grinder, and then use POR-15. It is about the only rust stabilizer that actually works.

I would wager that he doesn't actually have a grinder.  Maybe he could get a wirebrush attachment for a drill, though, since it's a small job.  Looks like he's done a decent job and if it's in a humidity controlled place, the rust probably won't come back.  If it does it will take a longass time.

No Don't have a grinder but I have got a drill press and a grinding stone and wirebrush attachment, so I will eventually use that. I didn't take it off because the tamper proof screws are rusted away and I just wanted to have a quick go (an hours worth of hand sanding with 600 grade wet'n'dry paper) to see if there was anything other than rust left!

I know I have scratched the chuff out of it, but it looks a lot better than being rusted to f**k!

My problem is gonna be stopping it rusting again, I've got it in me shed which is insulated with 4 inch of fibreglass, but obviously damp will be a problem to a degree.

I'd rather not paint it black, unless I don't have another solution to rust curing.

I downloaded the manual with hopes of figuring it out...Sega--something--R. I guess it's more than we had before. Any similar graphics on the rest of the cabinet?

I only remember playing Power Drift a few times, which is why I think I get it confused with Outrunners. Nice game though.

oh now i remeber what i used to take the rust of it was brasco first i sanded it down then i used brasco and it bought the pedals back to life sorry for the late reply on it,  as you have already sort it out now....
great buy though shame i was in essex afew days ago if only i knew i would have come on over and wiped all ur scores of the board...

I've got the main gear for the steering wheel coming courtesy of ponyboy (top man), mines got a very nasty break and split which is gonna mank up another gear if I leave it as is.

I might be interested in the mechanical parts, pedals, shifter, steering and possibly the pcb's but you couldn't live much further away from me and the postage would probably be a bit of a b**ch.
