I would wager that he doesn't actually have a grinder. Maybe he could get a wirebrush attachment for a drill, though, since it's a small job. Looks like he's done a decent job and if it's in a humidity controlled place, the rust probably won't come back. If it does it will take a longass time.
No Don't have a grinder but I have got a drill press and a grinding stone and wirebrush attachment, so I will eventually use that. I didn't take it off because the tamper proof screws are rusted away and I just wanted to have a quick go (an hours worth of hand sanding with 600 grade wet'n'dry paper) to see if there was anything other than rust left!
I know I have scratched the chuff out of it, but it looks a lot better than being rusted to f**k!
My problem is gonna be stopping it rusting again, I've got it in me shed which is insulated with 4 inch of fibreglass, but obviously damp will be a problem to a degree.
I'd rather not paint it black, unless I don't have another solution to rust curing.
