Yes & yes. Remember that this monitor must be powered from an isolation transformer.

What's an isolation transformer?  Where can I buy one?  How much does it cost?

Yes you need a amp, and seperate sync wires.

(The how to do this is on the Ultimarc site.)

Remember Andy is closed till next week.

I thought seperate sync wires wasn't a problem.  If it's composite sync, you just twist them together.  If it isn't you hook up the vertical and horizantal seperately.  Did I miss something?

Also, Im not sure where the video input on this monitor is.  Do I need to buy a seperate piece, do I just not know where to look?

Thanks again,
Bill

P.S.  Is it dangerous to try and plug this monitor into an arcade vga card without the amp?  Will hooking up an AMP when it turns out it isn't required fry the monitor, or harm it?

The AMP is as you know to step the signal from one volt to five--try the monitor without the amp, see how it looks then decide--not the reverse.  Also, I thought the arcadevga output 5V? I  may be mistaken on that one--andy is the one to clarify that one.  for what its worth i have used a G07, K7000, K4616 and have never needed an amp to get a decent picture.

Crap, I just ordered $192 worth of stuff from Ultimarc, including the AMP.  I could have saved myself $20.

So using the AMP wont hurt any monitors?

without knowing exactly how the amp is working its hard to say if it will damage it or what the effect of dumping 10v (if thats what it ends up doing) on your signal lines does.  It could also just pass 5v regardless of the input and if thats the case then it will work fine.

The G07 was easy to work on as there was tonnes of info on it, the flybacks are crap and if they haven't been replaced will need to be shortly (so theres 25 bux + shipping).  other than that its a good little model.

It's needed for the g07, (it takes 5v point to point and the arcade vga outputs .7v point to point)

I say use sep. syncs because I always get tearing with composite on the g07.

(That monitor is really picky about composite syncs.)

And those monitors are built well, I left one outside for 2 weeks in the rain, and after it dried out it was still perfect (and very clean!)
