Joust/ defender. D9200 flashing
« on: January 02, 2006, 05:41:52 am »
I have an identical problem with Joust & Defender on a D9200 running ArcadeVGA. I get a flashing black screen every couple of seconds that begins the moment the rom is launched, and continues throughout game play.

I am using Mame 0.102 and GameEX.

These are the only two roms I have problems with so far. Using a PC monitor I have confirmed everything works fine. Coincidentally (maybe......?), both games have the same Williams boot-up screen although I did notice they are different resolutions.

Been banging my head for a couple of hours and tried quite a few defender.ini video settings but nothing help. Any idea?

Bones:

Try Robotron, Stargate, and Bubbles to see if they exhibit the same behavior.  All of those Williams games ran on the same hardware.

Yep. They all fail to run properly. Same symptoms.

Bones:

I'm running a Betson Multisync with AVGA.  All the Williams games run fine.  I checked Joust and it is set at 288x240 I think.  Have you changed the refresh rate and forced it to 60Hz?

I changed the resolution to 60 and the flashing frequency changed but still persisted. I tried 50 and everything came perfect.

In short, thanks for putting me on the right track Mark.  ;)

Cool.  I'm glad you got it fixed.
