Lazarus question
« on: February 04, 2003, 07:25:26 pm »
This is potentially a very dumb question...

I installed lazarus 4.0 and read through the documentation on the site.  It says: "First I'll assume that you managed to unzip Lazarus.  Next navigate to the "dlls" folder and run the "runme.bat." Ok one step down. "

However, I dont see a dll's folder when I extract the zip-- just three files, one of which is setup.  So i run setup and install it at c:\save\games\lazarus\

However, I still dont see a dll's folder anywhere.  It is not in c:\save\games\lazarus\ either... am I missing something?  If someone could point me in the right direction, Id appreciate it!

You no longer have to do that now that lazarus uses an installation program.   So basically you can ignore that part of the documentation.

Thanks!

When I load the pgram though, no games or anything is listed.  I press tab so that I can generate a list of games, but the window that pops up when I press tab is blank also...   :(

I was really looking forward to using that program, but it seems like things arent going my way with it...

I'm not quite sure whats going on there.  I don't have alot of experience with Lazarus, but i'll make some suggestions if you give me a little more info such as what Opertaing System you're running and what exactly you see when you press tab.  Do you see a colored section appear, but with no menu selections?  thats what it sounds like, but i just want to be sure.

I am running windows XP, and you are correct-  when I press tab, I get a window that appears but has no options for me to do anything since it is blank.

thanks!

This probably wont help you much, but try this.  look in your lazarus.ini file.  find the line that says MenuStyle=.  If this is not set to 3, try switching it to 3.  More than likely it already is set to 3.  Like i said though, it probably wont help.  Right now thats all i can think of.  Maybe try uninstalling Lazarus completely and then reinstalling.  Other than that, i'm out of ideas.  But keep in mind i'm not a Lazarus pro.

when I installed it, I had it install to a directory other then the default.  I will also try installing to the default directory-- maybe that will help.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Changing the directory it installs in shouldn't make much of a difference, but i guess stranger things have happened.  I imagine its something in one of the configuration files.  Not sure if this would affect it, but what version of mame are you using?

The blank menu is caused by the menustyle as previously suggested.....

Try each one until it appears....

Also the menu will not open until a few seconds after the skin has loaded.  It will simply appear and then disappear.  This could make a "black box" effect.

I just had the same problem its cause the FONT in the Scheme of the skin is not on your PC.. just go and change it.. ie "MORPHEOUS" change to "ARIAL" and it works.
