So basically what youre saying........ If you had to buy one which one would you buy? I have read that if you buy a newer one and hack it that you might ruin it or that the browser might get messed up. That is the only reason I would like to get an untouched as far as the firware PSP. So which one would you get? 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0?
I'm saying it doesnt really matter.
It seems that the 1.00 is the most "wanted" by serious homebrew guys, but only because it is slightly easier to load games. If you load your emulator on a 1.5... thats it... it works just like a 1.00 would. The only difference is that 20 seconds that you load up the program.
The browser doesn't get "messed up" if you downgrade. There is NO browser in 1.0 or 1.5. The Web browser is built within the 2.0 upgrade. You can used hacked browsers from games (Wipeout, Fired Up), but they aren't very good IMHO. If you want a web browser that's usable (or at least MOST usable) get a PSP and update to the newest firmware. If not, forget about the browser entirely IMO.
I've downgraded my PSP (it was a 2.0 when I got it) with no problems. If you downgrade a lot, you risk bricking your PSP, but it is not very common.. you have to downgrade many times. Don't worry about an "untouched" one... there is absolutely ZERO difference.
Get a 1.00 if you want it.. you'll be able to run anything, but its mostly a "hey look I have a 1.00 PSP" type of thing unless you plan on seriously hacking and coding for the PSP.
Get a 1.5 if you want to run illegal games.
Get a 2.0 if you want to have the browser and have the ability to use practically all emulators and homebrew out there minus a few that use kernel mode.
The only reason people stick with 1.5 is they want to steal games. There aren't many worthwhile homebrew apps that DON'T work on 2.0 (i'm talking... maybe 5... if that).
