Now search for "cam lock"
So the quotes work here? I never thought of that; I guess because that is not usually how things are done. Google for example, or most any forum software search engine, would give you results where cam and lock appeared anywhere. Adding quotes to the search would give you results where the exact phrase appears (lock directly following cam) like it does here. So essentially, this software is missing the normal find-words-in-any-order search, like you would get if you type cam lock into Google, and has replaced it with a find-sequence-of-letters type of a search, even if they are within larger words - which is a next to useless form of searching as far as I can tell.
For example, a Google type search with no quotes for cam lock would be useful if say, cam locks were called "cam discombooberator locks", but you couldn't remember the "discombooberator" part. Then the results would show all posts that had the words "cam" and "lock" (words like be
came or b
lock obviously wouldn't show up in the results because of the obvious irrelevance) and you could find out that the missing word is "discombooberator" by default. This would be a case where using quotes around "cam lock" wouldn't work.
