PS2 for Christmas...
« on: December 19, 2005, 01:38:42 pm »
I'm thinking of picking up a PS2 for my nephew for Christmas.  They are going for about $169CDN with an extra controler.
I would like to get it modified to play game backups.  Is this possible with all PS2?

Should I look into getting him an Xbox instead?  Not a 360...he's not my kid  ;)

OK, it's $164.99 and it a PS2 slim version...if that makes a difference...
The kid is 10, and I don't want him scratching the heck out of original discs...I'm also hoping there other advantages to having a moded unit...

Both systems are good and I'm sure he'd be happy with either one.

XBOX for teh win !!

ps2 is good and all but I hear you cant play all games from hard drive,no support for emulators, chip harder to install, etc.

xbox plays pretty much all capcom and neogeo games at full speed, all xbox games run from hard drive, xbox media center for movies mp3,etc.

I would go for teh box !

Well.

XBOX is a much better system. And the mod for it is much more rewarding.

About 95% of all games work just fine on the PS2 off of the Hard Drive.
