I posted this in the monitor section but didn't get any replies.  I get a flickering double screen.  I've tried tweaking with mamewah's resolution tool, but I'm thinking that there may be some settings in mame32 that I need to tweak as well.  It also happens with discs of tron, and probably other games at that resolution also, but oddly enough I can play other games at that resolution without trouble at 640x480.

I've got your same setup and Tron works fine.  I also have the Trisync drivers installed.  I just looked at Tron's specs and it is 480 wide x 512 tall so you will need a resolution higher than 640x480.

I would go lookup exactly how I have it set, but I'm currently using that monitor with a Golden Tee Fore PCB I just got.

Why don't you install the Trisync utilities and set the resolution to 800x600 with refresh set to 60 Hz with hardware stretching enabled?  That for sure ought to work.  When I fire up Mame32 on that monitor again I'll see what my exact settings are.

thanks for the reply.  I have it working now by pure luck-I deselected enforce aspect ratio and it's now playable although stretched horizontally.  I would prefer the correct aspect ratio (black bars on the sides are ok with me).

I haven't tried using hardware stretching as everything I had read previously suggested that hardware stretching was not necessary and should be turned off with the AVGA.

In the interest of furthering my understanding of how things work, it would be great if someone could explain to me why enforce aspect ratio causes the monitor to go haywire.  Previously I have played tron without special settings on a 17" lcd monitor.  I don't know what resolution mame auto selected in that case.

thanks for the reply!
