Fighting Spammers/Scammers
« on: December 12, 2005, 03:55:15 pm »
I got a typical ebay scam in my email, one of those, your account has been suspended, click here, redirect to some scummy webpage. I filled out the form for Mr. LikestheDouche.

It made me think... Why can't I just set up a script to pound their database with fake records randomized on the spot? I figure if enough people did a little vigilante justice, the problem would disappear. Plus, with enough scripts running, their system would crash.

Any thoughts?

I wrote out a little script to reply to their message a couple of times... unfortunatley I forgot to tell the script to increment the count, end result was their server accepted 300,000 messages per minute for 6 minutes before it failed, cost to me Nil, cost to them 6 pence per message

strangely they never sent me another message, maybe it was something to do with the
