Darwinia: Retro-gaming influenced, mixed genre title

I've been hearing a lot of good things about this game, just pre-ordered it on STEAM.

The basic premise is that you inhabit a 'virtual' world inhabited by jettisoned sprites from retro arcade games. You are to take control of a vast army of digital denizens and fend off an intruding virus. However, reviews are saying that gameplay is formulated out of a unique mix of genres and styles.

Wanted to mention it here, in case no one has heard of it. I believe it comes out on Dec. 14th.

Should mention that it was $17 pre-order on Steam (pre-downloaded, but can't play until official launch). Official website is here: http://www.darwinia.co.uk/

I watched the videos on Steam a few days ago.  It looks like a very interesting game.  I'll probably pick it up after I finish the backlog of PC games I still have.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

I played it a while back.  It didn't hold my interest long enough to finish the demo.  Maybe others will enjoy it more but I found it decidedly meh.

I want my own arcade controls!

i found it to be blah as well, the pathfinding is not so good, they tredge thru the water for ever..
Enjoying the fruits of technological obsolescence one game at a time...

There is no pathfinding.  They just go straight no caring about what is in the path.

I liked it though it screams multiplayer co-op.
once you get to the later levels it's rather exciting.  However one level, even on my decent system, chugged.  This is because there was TONs of enemies on screen.

The other odd thing is there is no way to loose the game.

Also the game play is rather repetative, even as you get new technologies.  Pretty much every level is like this:
Create Squads and engineers.
Use the Squad to blast the enemies, set the engineers to collect the souls to make more squads.
Setup a couple of officers to direct the flow of traffic.
Abuse the fact that engineers can travel over water to take control of buildings on other islands.  (this fact made some of the later levels super easy)
