Monitor developed a "weakspot"?
« on: December 06, 2005, 11:28:17 am »
Heya guys, one of my monitor's just recently developed what I would call a weakspot in the corner of the tube... it happened suddenly between resetting the machine! Could this be a component failure, bad solder joint? Or is the tube just on its way to death? What I would call a weakspot; it's green, not full solid green but its over the other colours, just *more* green than there should be. It's also less bright than the rest of the picture.. ideas? I figured it might just need degaussing, but doesnt the k7000 series auto-degauss..? I'll give it a whiz with a wand anyway

EDIT: I should clarify this is a *tiny* spot, maybe about 4% of the total screen, but its really getting on my nerves since I know its there!

Yeah I thought that, I just thought that was the job of the degaussing coils and whatnot :P

Sounds like a manual degaussing is needed with a handheld degausser.
