probably a repost...this dude was sitting in his room before starting university when he thought of charging people 1 dollar per pixel or 100 dollars per block to advertise.

there are loads of knockoff sites that have made lots of money too.

Looks like 8 months worth of spam and spyware condensed into one convenient page.

It's a brilliant idea though. The site is nothing more than a "link directory". There have been thousands and thousands of link sites for years now. But this guy found a way to get people to pay $100 bucks just to get listed in this "directory"!!
NO MORE!!

lets see. $100,000 set aside for college. $50,000 for car insurance over the next 8 years, $20,000 for a car. $20,000 for one ---fudgesicle--- of a computer.

I've thought about this too much

I had never seen this before and I think it's a great idea. What is amazing is that it actually worked, the guy has made over $800K! As a user, I actually just wasted about 15 minutes "surfing" from the page. I think since it tends to grab you and make you click some things (at least it did me), people who put ads there might actually get some traffic. Thanks for posting this here for those of us not up to speed on net oddities like this.

Eric.

15 minutes?  I spent like 3 hours on one site, following random links and stuff...some online money-maker thing....

A friend wanted me to help him out with one of these, he had to explain the whole concept to me because I was too lazy to go to the site.  Now it seems like a good idea, but not something that will take nicely to being copied, since there are so many copiers now...just look at the whole free ipods thing...

If only I could come up with a unique idea that would make me 800k...
