My cabinet - Almost done
« on: February 05, 2006, 01:37:24 pm »
Heres a picture of a project I've been working on for a couple weeks..

http://www.kcnet.com/~jpassons/skull2-06.jpg

I bought an old cabinet from a guy who lives around here. It was in pretty bad shape and had been outside but it had all the necessary parts.. It was a Zaxxon cabinet that was converted to a Skull and Crossbones along the way.. The control panel is SNK. A real patchjob.. :) Anyways I painted it and cleaned it up and the above picture is how it looks today. I have pictures of what it looked like when I first got it and progress pictures.. There seems to be a ton of sites out there on this but if theres any interest I might post them or put up a site. I bought a cabinet since I had no confidence in my woodworking skills and it was cheaper.. I got this for $50 and 3 pieces of MDF to build mine would have cost $45. In case you were wondering, I'm running a P4, 3ghz, 512mb Ram with a Radeon video card hooked up to a 20" TV with s-video. Its not a huge monitor but its all I could fit inside (and it was a perfect fit. 1/4 inch wider and it wouldn't!). Whats left to do? I need a piece of construction board to matte out the TV, but with the tinted plexiglass, you can hardly even see the TV. I also need to wire up the control panel (still waiting on my IPAC). I'd also like to eventually make some side art for it.

One thing I'm not sure about is the tinted plexiglass.. Theres a scratch on it that I'd like to buff out or repair somehow but I'm not sure of how to do it. Any ideas? Its fairly deep.
