Problems running games in mame32 .100 and up

I, for the life of me, cannot figure out why I cannot run ANY games in the newer versions of MAME32 I believe starting with version .100. Everytime I start a game it quickly flashes a dos screen and then back to the MAME32 main menue. I believe it has something to do with the "Screen- display1" section under the Display tab in the game properties. I noticed that this is a new feature and read that this my be the culprit. In the help file it says to go to the .ini file and remove the line that refers to this but when I go into the .ini file, the "Screen" option is nowhere to be found. Everything else listed in the display prooerties is listed except this.
Thanks

Try deleting all your nvram files.

Its a fresh installiation of .100 and there are no NVRAM files in it. The DOS screen that pops up goes so fast that I cant see what it's saying the problem is. The DOS screen is also strange because I don't ever remember having a dos screen pop up fo anything since I've used mame32. I don't know what they changed in these new versions but I can't run anything.

is this a self compiled or alternate mame32 version your running, like say a P4 or amd build? And another question, can I assume you audit(update) your roms on a regular basis as well?

Or instead of using Mame32 use vanilla Mame. That way you can see any errors right on the command line screen.
