cheap source for pinball coils?
« on: December 01, 2005, 01:38:05 pm »
Anyone have a cheap source for pin coils?  I need a 50v flipper coil but every place I find it on the web ends up adding 75% or more to the cost once you throw on shipping.

Try Amusements Plus. Their prices are low and they do NOT have a website. Contact them at 1-800-377-7729 or (585) 244-2420 in Rochester, N.Y.

Yeah, tried pbresource, they didn't have the coil I needed.

I ended up ordering here.

For Amusement Only is very good - I've happily made several orders there.

Yeah, Marco is ridiculous....they tried to charge me 9.00 shipping on a coin door sticker!

I guess their flat shipping rate is good if you are ordering big items, but man, they are really alienating the buyer who just needs one or two simple things like bulbs or stickers.  They should be at least somewhat flexible...i told the guy just stick the sticker in a 37 cent envelope, he wouldn't budge on the shipping price.

Yeh, I was going to order some connectors, IC sockets, and resistors for my buddy Steve Mildenberger. When I saw the prices and shipping charges I decided not to. I found the exact same items at Mouser so I made the order on line from Mouser. Since my buddy is a frequent customer at Mouser, we get "un-advertised" discounts. All the stuff I just ordered from Mouser only cost $4 to ship by US Mail. Should be here today as a matter of fact.

I need to check Mouser for random caps.  I am probably going to need a bunch of random ones for some old PCB work and figure it may be best to just stock up on various ranges.

Get the Xicon brand capacitors from Mouser. They are priced very low.

I assume from your recommendation that they are decent quality, too, yes?

Don't forget Terry at www.pinballlife.com he has pretty good prices as well.  Especially his bulbs.

I buy most of my consumables from him but he didn't have this part.

I second that recommendation for pinball life...i've ordered from them several times, and have received excellent service...their prices seem reasonable too...i always check them first...but sometimes they don't have that 'rare' part.

For reference, the coil from For Amusement Only is here... Ordered around 4:30pm Thursday and arrived Priority Mail on Saturday.  Good price and lightning shipping.
