27" Panasonic TV

I have my computer hooked up to my 27" TV in my cabinet.
How can I get a clearer picture. I currently have it hooked up through S-Video and my resolution is 800 X 600 (the lowest it will go) It looks ok, but can it get better. Does the video card make a difference?
