Arcade Monitor Question
« on: January 28, 2003, 03:18:34 pm »
What's the picture like on these Wells Gardner monitors. Do they look like a computer monitor or do they just look like a good TV. Do they have real noticable scan lines. It's just kind of hard to make the commitment sight unseen. I'm kind of torn between a nice 21" monitor off of Ebay or one of these.

Another quick question. When you see Arcade machines advertised for sale that have a Wells Gardner monitor, are these the kind that can plug into a PC or are they something else?

dude..
your "arcade monitor question" goes in the monitor thread.
as for you...ever been to any arcade?
you could clearly see how arcade monitors look..its like tv but A LOT cleaner,no color bleeding, accurate color(tv is just funny with the color) and scan lines are there because that how its supposed to be..

only open frame "VGA" monitors from wells gardner(there are others that makes these too) works with computers directly.
Like d9200 or u3100 models.
bring the link of the monitor on sale and we tell you what it does.

Sorry about the wrong forum. There are lots of different quality in the arcades. I wanted to know how the 9200 and 3100's looked. They seem to be of higher resolution than the ones in the arcade.

Thanks for the pics. Does yours go up to 640 X 480 ? Do you know how computer games look on one that does 800 X 600 ? Is the Eygo company still around? I couldn't find a website.

The U3100 has indeed scanlines (at least it looks like it, closely it looks like brick patterns), the very best of this monitor is you won't get the blockieness as you would on a computer monitor.

I've some pictures of the U3100 in action on my homepage (see below), so you might've a look at this. Never seen the picture of the U9200 so, the U3100 is only available in 13" and 19".

But better not use it to surf around and read emails, might 'cause some pain in your eyes due to lack of sharpness!  ;)
