BTW, you SHOULD complain.  The teacher KNEW it was wrong and against the law (yeah the law) to give them out... IF...  (without reading its hard to say) it was pushing that evolution is wrong.  There are lots of problems with evolution, but thats just because we don't fully understand it.

If the kids want to hear something talking about troubles with evolution, the book jurrassic park the lost worlds (or whatever the second book in the series is) does a great job talking about it.

But just because we don't understand something doesn't mean there is a super being above watching over with a large beard.  Just showing a flaw in a theory doesn't mean the whole thing is wrong, it means we don't understand it fully yet...

That's BS about age 9.  That is not her decision to make about your child.

"She was under the impression..."

---fudgesicle--- that.  She is the professional.  That means its her job to consider all sides to something before she brings it up to the kids.  She isnt supposed to guess.  She should KNOW.

I don't think there's much I can do about it now. I made my point.

I was even more concerned when she said that she was making a list of parent's lies. That's disconcerting.  I failed to asked what else was on the board on that one.

I have always reserved the right, as all parents before me, to lie about what I did in school to my kid in school.

That's funny.  This is obviously someone who will be fired soon.  She's so caught up in her principles and deludes herself into thinking that being right will trump the overwhelming public pressure to can her ass.

I would want to see that list, and I would want the Principal involved.  She is clearly warming up to something.

Yeah, her public execution.
Now in a tasty new flavour.

You've got to be kidding, guys.

School officials these days molest children and don't get fired, they get "counseling".

They then repeat the offense and "resign", only to get a new position someplace else doing the same thing, WITH recommendation from the old school.

How is telling some kids there is no Santa Claus going to get them fired when they don't get fired for having sex with the students?

It's warped at times.
How many instances have there been when the lesser crime got the tougher punishment.

12 is pretty damn old to keep your child that naive. Most kids are getting pubes and boobs by 11/12. You want your pubescent kid sitting on mall-Santa's lap?

NO MORE!!

RayB,

I wanted to keep him as innocent as I can for as Long as I can.

There is no sense in growing up too fast. It happens way to soon anyway.
Santa is the last magical thing of childhood. Once that magic dies, there is nothing really magical anymore is there?

Well, there ARE...

...but those are the dark things.  Those are the alcohol, pot, and chicks.  The magical things become the "cool" negative influences.

There is no need to rush the loss of innocence.  Some kids will naturally shed it at 8, others will still cling to it at 13.  It's all psychological maturation and a haughty guidance counselor has no right to affect that.

Aren't you only supposed to talk to your guidance counselor if you have problems, anyway?  I think in all my public school years I only talked to m guidance counselors two or three times, all when I was new to a school or filling out college applications in 12th grade.
