Cutting XP down to size

Alot of people know about blackviper's site which details services that can be stopped to enhance XP's speed and general operation. For an arcade cabinet many services are not required for gaming and basic internet access (for networking be a little more careful what services you stop).

Unfortunately it's been removed, but not from the net archives of course. So here is a link to it...

It shows different configurations as well as explaination of what each service does and whether or not they can be stopped without problems.

Nice hookup on the Web Archive there. Much needed.

What we need though is a table like he has strictly for arcade cabinets. His is (correctly) under the assumption that internet access is a primary function. Many of us though have dedicated cabinets that are net virgins. There are several additional services that we don't need for our purposes.

Try the "Bare Bones" config, I'm not sure if that disables net access. I guess it could be a trial and error thing.

I haven't tried it, but I run the preview version of 98lite on a really old laptop and it runs pretty quick .
