ps2 mod question
« on: November 15, 2005, 03:28:11 am »
I have spent days goggling. I was checking prices and what not.

I have 2 PS'2s one a ver 9 with a bad DVD laser ( hard drive will be used on that one)

The other is a version 4.

I have a set of swap disks DVD version 2.0 and CD version 3.2 ( Swap Magic)

I can never get the CD games to load  ??? very aggravating

I have decided to mod this (version 4) PlayStation 2
I have found this mod chip and it seems to me only at the link provided. Price is very cheep and solderless
but since it is only found at the one mod chip provider I have to wonder why is that? any who here is the link. asking for advice on company and is this mod any good?

If the modchip requires swap disks, dont bother with a mod chip.. just grab a flip top case for it and move on with life..

Theres no point wasting the money on that thing

I had this same problem. I was in line at blockbuster one night and I overheard the clerk tell someone that ps2 sometimes have a hard time gripping the cd and that is why it cant read them. He suggested putting a couple of small pieces of tape on top of the cd for better traction near the center of the cd. I tried it on my time crisis 2 which I hadnt been able to get to load previously and it worked. I also have the swap magic and hd advance 2.0. It works pretty good with most games. Now that they have newer version of swap magic and hdavance I think it is pretty compatible with everything.
