PSX emulation on my cab
« on: November 11, 2005, 06:05:02 am »
I was thinking about dabbling into psx (playstation 1) emulation for my cab. Obtaining isos is easy im just wondering if I can get things full speed.

I have a athlon xp 1800 with 768mb RAM and a 32mb graphics card.

Is it possible? What emus do you reccomend (mamewah friendly) and what performance am i likely to get?

I want to run the following...

1)Tekkens 1 , 2 3
2)Ridge Racer
3) Rave Racer
4) Ridge Racer type 4
5) Ridge Racer Revolution
6) Final Fantasy VII VIII IX (How does disc swapping work for these multidisc games)
7)Xenogears
8) Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2

have you used epsxe?  I know that used to be popular.  Dunno about anymore though.  Can't comment on the specific games you mention.

I have run a bunch of games under espxe, does a really good job IMO. Can't verifiy for your particular games though, I was playing Tony Hawk 3 and some RPGs.

Yeah...

I spent a lot of time to run PSX games...
Epsxe is the best available emulator, because it support almost all games...Epsxe is very much popular due to its large Plugin support, video, quality. It is a Command line emulator...

You can find Hardware requirements but here is my experence.
I suggest 700 mhz Intel MMx/AMD with atleast 256 L2 Cache.
256 MB ram.
16 Mb AGP card.
WindowsXp.

You can configure it with mamewah. You should be fine.

I have the same setup with a some of the fighting games and working fine.

I don't want to state this toohighly, but..........................................outside of Mame, I LOVE THE eSPXe EMULATOR!!!!!!  I added it to my mamewah frontend, and wow, was I impressed to the point of wow.  I am a product of the nintendo age, and man this is great on the cab.  I have a usb hub located on the front of my cab, and it is great with joysticks.  Cabinet controls are okay, but only works well in some games.
