for the record I have quite a bit of ink, but they can all easily be covered up if need be there is a time and place for everything....

How goofy.  I can never understand people like you.  Why do you give a damn what other people do when it doesn't have any negative affect on you at all.  You're like (or are) one of those people who want to outlaw homosexuality because it's unnatural.  And it's so important that everybody draws the line of acceptable body modification exactly where you do, i.e. at tatoos, that you invent silly rationalizations such as the one quoted above to justify your hypocrisy.  In actuality your justification applies exactly the same to piercings as to tatoos.  Tatoos on the hands or face or neck cannot be covered up any easier than a piercing.  Just as you can have a prince albert or have your nipples pierced without anyone knowing about it.

If anything, tatoos are certainly the more extreme between the two.  There is a great deal more pain involved, and if Soapboy ever decides he doesn't like his piercing he'll just take it out and it will close up, leaving a nearly imperceptible scar.  On the other hand, when you realize that the skulls and naked chicks you thought were so cool in your early twenties are actually kinda dorky, your options are much more limited.

My point isn't that you shouldn't get tatoos, it's just that for once Soapboy is kinda right.  People who think like you about things like this suck.

Wow, so now you try to analyse me and goup me into a classification that you can justify in your mind. My comment was based on CCM comment that for some reason since I think face peircings are silly he thinks that I think everyone should dress talk and act the same as in his comment here:

Riiighhht, no one should have piercings or tattoos or wear any color clothing other than gray and everyone should speak in monotone and we should all drive the same kind of car and eat the same foods...

I never drew a line on where body modifications should be made at I gave my opinion, last I checked my opinions aren't law, they are just my thoughts. Just as you have your own opinion on the subjec.t big deal, that is another thing that makes us individuals our different thought processes, but if you want to think getting a peircing just like the other guy makes you an individual, go ahead knock yourself out I can think what I want to about how silly it looks.........

I personally dig tats. I have tats.

I don't mind piercings, but I hate them on faces. I also hate tats on faces (and hands for that matter).

When you put body modification on your face of any kind you are sending a message. I am not saying it is a negative one, but every person you make eye contact with is going to be thinking to himself- "Well this dude is right in my face with that crap, what is his deal?"

Tattoos on hands are the same. You get introduced to somebody and go to shake their hand and the first thing you see is a tat. It is impossible not to process this information. The first instinct is to be weary. It is this instinct that keeps humans alive.

Like it or not, nobody can deny this type of body modification is going to send a message.  Turn up at a job interview with a face full of metal and see how far you get.

If you have tats or piercings on your face you know it is going to get a reaction. The real question that needs to be asked is if it is a positive one.

Are you just baiting us shmokes or do you not possess this intelligent instinctive sense?

Now that's how you bait your hook.

wow. some of you people are really friggin ignorant.

Piercings and tattoos have been around for thousands of years, at least.

So, some of you think it is "unnatural" and shouldn't be a part of life?

How about the clothes you wear? you weren't born with them on, you added them to your body. That is unnatural! How about the cars you drive, the bikes you ride, the food you eat and/or drink, all pretty unnatural. Watching tv, or using computer...not natural at all.

Get naked, live in the woods and hunt for food with a stick. that's natural. morons.

I get the feeling "unnatural" is not what people were going for here.

How about "In the minority".

As a minority, there will be persecution.  Deal with it, or get a loudmouth, vocal, advocate.  Thats what the other minoritys seem to do.

But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

I'm pierced, because I like it. <==PERIOD

Not looking to be unique. Not looking for attention. Not looking to symbolize anything.

I just plain like piercings.

For those being defensive about the subject... Why bother? Opinions (especially in the BYOAC EE Forums) are like poopchutes. Everyone has one, and they all stink. Not worth risking any extra carpal tunnel issues bickering with people, that are quite often in a totally different reagion of the world, with an entirely different culture in the first place. The only person that HAS to be happy with you is you.

I have 5 tattoos and 7 piercings (5 in one ear and 2 where you can't see them)

I used to do tattooing and piercing in my own studio....

I don't find the ink or the jewelry on that gentleman disturbing.

But he has some seriously deep-seated emotional issues he needs to take care of.  That is what his "look" projects, and that is what I find disturbing.

Depeche Mode star Dave Gahan was forced to remove piercing between his testicles and his anus when one of his kids quizzed him about it.

Or in a locker room.  Or perhaps their family simply doesn't have the repressive perverse attitudes about nudity that most of us have had socialized into us.

Or maybe he's a child molester.  Who knows.  But there are perfectly reasonable alternatives.

Dude, great minds don't think alike, but we do think of the same things about certain situations!

The article states his piercing is BETWEEN his dangly bits and his waste-expeller.  Someone please give the perfectly reasonable explanation Gahan was bent over in such a way to display his not-odd-until-then jewelry in front of his kids.

Then explain why he couldn't explain to his kids (since he might be so open and enlightened) why it was that he originally got it, or why that "statement" no longer applied to him, since it was easily turned into something foolish by his kids.
